770 Area Code Time Zone (Eastern Time)
Georgia lies entirely within the Eastern Time Zone, so every 770 number keeps Eastern Time. That means UTC−5 in standard time and UTC−4 during daylight saving time, which begins on the second Sunday in March and ends on the first Sunday in November.
Georgia still changes its clocks twice a year. The state has passed a law to stay on daylight saving time year-round, but it depends on federal authorization, so nothing has changed yet.

The region has not been split since. Area code 678 went live in January 1998 as an overlay on both 404 and 770, and that year ten digits became required on local calls throughout the metro. Area code 470 was added to the overlay on September 2, 2001, but its numbers waited until 678 ran out; the Georgia Public Service Commission dates its implementation to 2010.
In October 2020, after NANPA projected that the metro's four codes would exhaust by the second quarter of 2023, the commission approved a fifth. Area code 943 entered service on March 15, 2022, across the whole region inside and outside the Perimeter, and existing numbers kept their area codes.
